Ingredients:

– 100g (3.5oz) raspberries; – ½ tsp vanilla; – 4 tbsp buttermilk; – 1 egg, beaten; – 30g (1oz) butter; – ½ tsp salt; – ½ tsp baking soda; – 1½ tsp baking powder; – 4 tbsp sugar, divided; – 125g (4.4oz) plain flour.

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the plain flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 2. Add the butter, using a pastry blender or two forks, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
